Visiting from Billings, Laurel & Red Lodge, Montana

Coming to Indigo Thrive from Billings

Powell is just over the Montana line, a little under two hours from Billings and just over an hour from Red Lodge. Plenty of people from across the border make it a day trip.

The drive

From Billings or Laurel: I-90 west to Laurel, then US-310 south through Bridger and into Wyoming, and US-14A west into Powell. Roughly 105 miles and an hour and forty-five minutes, all two-lane and easy.

From Red Lodge: south through Belfry into Wyoming, then on to Powell — a little over an hour.

Worth the drive for

  • Aura photography. Sit down, rest your hands on the sensors, and leave with a printed photo of yourself surrounded by color. As far as we know it’s the only aura camera between Casper and Billings. What to expect →
  • A real crystal and tarot selection. Tumbled stones, spheres and raw pieces you can hold before you choose, plus tarot and oracle decks for first-timers and long-time readers alike. What we carry →
  • Goods from 35+ small makers. Teas, syrups, body products, jewelry, journals, decor — a lot of it made here in Wyoming, and hard to find anywhere else.
  • Help without the hard sell. Emily knows what’s on the shelves. Ask, or just browse.

Make a day of it

Powell is 25 minutes from Cody, so the shop pairs easily with a Cody afternoon — the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, downtown Sheridan Avenue — or with the Heart Mountain WWII Interpretive Center, which sits between the two towns. If you’re coming for aura photography, text ahead so it’s set up when you arrive.

Before you come

The shop is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM. If you’re after something specific, call or text ahead and we’ll set it aside, and let us know if you’d like aura photography so it’s ready when you arrive. Street parking is on North Absaroka.
